What's a SHOPPING CART?In the vocabulary of the web, a "shopping cart" allows customers who visit a merchant's web site to purchase items online. This online shopping is not so different from traditional shopping in a store. The customer wants to see the merchandise, choose from the options available, and pay for their purchases. A quality online shopping cart accomplishes the same things.HOW does it WORK?Shopping cart software makes it easy to turn a simple web site that displays merchandise into an online store. All you need is an "Add to Order" button for each item you sell, and a "Checkout" button to complete the sale and accept payment. The Pageville Shopping Cart has already programmed these functions for you - all you need to do is enter the details about your merchandise. While editing your website in Cool Page, open the E-Commerce in the Objects window. (Ctrl+Alt+O toggles the Objects window on/off) Drag the Add to Order button onto your web page. You will be prompted to enter the following information: Item ID, Description, Price, Shipping Measure, Max Qty Decimals, and Image. This is the information you will need to have ready when you want to set up items to sell with your shopping cart. All of these fields are defined in the Reference Section that follows. Most shopping pages have at least one Checkout button. Drag and drop this button onto your page. Checkout allows customers to review their order and select from your payment options. Payment options are set up on your shopping cart administration page. Pageville's shopping cart uses a secure server to transfer your customers' payment information, so you don't have to worry about protecting this sensitive data. The final step with a shopping cart is getting the order to you, the merchant, and sending an order confirmation to the customer. The Pageville Shopping cart collects all the data you need to accurately fill your customers' orders. Orders can be downloaded from a password-protected web page from any computer with Internet access. If desired, the Pageville shopping cart can send the merchant an e-mail every time a new order is received. An order confirmation is sent to the customer to assure them that their order has been placed, and to provide any additional information. This customer e-mail can be customized by the merchant. Shopping carts don't get much easier than this. Try it out and see what a Pageville Shopping Cart can do for you! REFERENCE SECTIONADD TO ORDER ButtonItem ID: The letters and/or numbers that you use to identify your product. Use letters, numbers and dashes (hyphens) only. No spaces permitted. To continue the above example, your description would be Corner Hutch with Two Doors. Price: The price before any taxes or shipping. Tax and shipping charges are set up using the administration page. Product ATTRIBUTESThe Pageville Shopping Cart allows you to easily add attributes for each of the items you sell. For example, if you are selling shirts, your attributes might be size, color, and pattern. You will still have a single "Add To Order" button on your web page. When it is clicked, a selection window will open with a drop down selection list for each attribute. You must enable attributes in the Plugin within Cool Page. Under Attributes, select 1, 2 or 3 and click on OK and then reload the button you are editing. You will then have 1, 2 or 3 attributes having title and option fields. The options are to be separated by vertical bars, |. Example input: PREDEFINED AttributesYou can set up one or more Predefined Attributes. To use, just select one and click on 1, 2 or 3 to apply to attribute 1, 2 or 3. You can vary the options for an item by editing the option for that item. If you revise the options for a Predefined Attribute, we do not automatically update your items. To update an item you must select it, select the Predefined Attribute, click on apply and then on OK. Use Preferences | Attributes to insert and modify predefined preferences. NOTE: You must be using a version of Cool Page that supports GetPersistentString() in order to use PREDEFINED Attributes. Shopping Cart ADMINISTRATIONThe administration page allows the merchant to control shopping cart options such as sales tax, shipping charges, merchant information, product attributes, page design, and advanced functions (Currency Settings).
